Toyota Center 1510 Polk Street, Houston, TX, 77002

The Japanese car company Toyota bought the naming rights of Toyota Center with a deal of 0 million in 2003. In 1995, the owner of Rockets Leslie Alexander started an appeal for a new arena. However, the agreement wasn’t reached until 2001. The city purchased the land of the arena, and the architect Morris Architects designed it. The ground break ceremony of the arena was organized in July 2001, and the building of the facility extended for 26 months.

The arena has a capacity of 18,023 seats for basketball games and it reserved nearly 17,800 seats for ice hockey events, while concerts’ seats capacity is of about 19,300. The first event to appear in the arena was a performance by Fleetwood Mac in October 2003. And the first sporting event to take place was a game between Rockets and Denver Nuggets the same month. And the first year of its opening, the arena’s attendance reached 1.5 million.

A great number of artists have performed in the arena. For example, in August 2005, the R&B band Destiny's Child made a performance at the arena as part of their Destiny Fulfilled and Lovin' It Tour. Beyoncé made several performances in the arena including one in July 2007 as part of her The Beyoncé Experience Tour, and the other concert in July 2009 as part of her I Am World Tour, and many other shows.
